Installed in an elegant 18th century house that is now a charming small luxury hotel, Jardins do Lago shows more thanks 500 species of plants coming from all over the world.
Cannas, hibiscus, crotons, heliconias, strelitzias, arum lillies, agapanthus and many others grow side by side with plumerias, african tulip trees, bottle brush trees, travellers palms, screwpines and araucarias.
A huge collection of bromeliads is one of the stars of this garden.
Jardins do Lago is also home for a giant tortoise from the Galapagos called Colombo who has been living here for more than 50 years.
