Ponta do sol, a delightful little village located 20 km south-west of the capital city of Funchal.

“Ponta do Sol” – the “Sunny Point” – with its natural harbour from where the sun rises first. It is also known for being one of the warmest places in Madeira, the annual average temperature is about 19 degrees Celsius!

I invite you to walk through this picturesque town, where there’s so much to see!

From Bougainvillea vines to Frangipani and African Tulip trees, not forgetting the fruit trees such as mangos and pawpaw and the banana plantations. Everything grows here.

And why not explore  the small colourful streets of the historical centre depicting the culture and traditions of its people through its painted walls. Here you can find local bars where you can relax and have a glass of wine while enjoying a cheese board.

Right in the centre of the village, there’s a 15th century church with Moorish influence that you shouldn’t miss out.

At the end of the day,   enjoy a wonderful Sunset from the harbour!
