Belmond Reid’s Palace is a historic hotel located on a cliff-top overlooking the Bay of Funchal.

This Luxury hotel was built by Scotsman William Reid in 1891 and became an attraction to the European royalty and English aristocracy.

Many famous guests stayed at the hotel, such as  Winston Churchill, Emperor Karl Von Habsburg, Roger Moore, Gregory Peck, dramatist George Bernard Shaw and more recently Jean-Marie Le Pen and Stephanie of Monaco.

Afternoon Tea at Belmond Reid’s Palace is an amazing experience you just can’t miss.

The Tea is served in a beautiful terrace with a breathtaking view over the City Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. The atmosphere is almost colonial.

You can also enjoy a botanical tour of the hotel subtropical gardens.  These botanical gardens are  a Hidden Paradise with a variety of plants and flowers all the year round. In the Island of Eternal Spring you can always visit  these gardens.

The hotel organizes a guided stroll through the gardens twice a week.

An experience not to be missed!
