If you are looking for something completely different, look no further.
The “Universo de Memórias” is located in a 19th century building at Calçada do Pico and it lodges the collections donated by João Carlos Abreu (former President of the Regional Board of Tourism and Culture).
The variety of objects from silver, crystal and porcelain to jewels, clothing, furniture, paintings and statues is dazzling and were acquired during his trips around the world.
Every room tells a story, each object has its own identity and there are 14 000 objects to “discover”.
Worth highlighting is the beautiful collection of Horses and the amazing collection of Ties.
After the visit enjoy a nice cup of tea and a delicious homemade cake in the cosy Tea Room located near the garden.
So, if you are in Funchal this is the place to visit … a must.
