Lemon festivity – Parish of Ilha – Santana

This event takes place in a small village called “Ilha”, on the northeast of Madeira. The main purpose is to pay homage to the main local product – the lemon and along with it a number of etnographical performances.

The production of the species – Citrus limon (Rutaceae) – is more significant in Santana council representing 72,43 ha. The most common variety is “Eureka”, but there are others like “Lunario” and “Galego”.

Madeira Rum Festival – Funchal centre

The Madeira Rum Festival will take place this month in the centre of Funchal, more precisely at Largo da Restauração – Avenida Arriaga.

The Madeira rum is a product obtained in the Region by fermentation of sugar cane plant juice – Saccharum officinarum (Poaceae). This drink is also used to manufacture the traditional “Poncha”.

All Day MIUT – Madeira Island Ultra Trail – Mountain race across Madeira

The MIUT (Madeira Island Ultra Trail) is a mountain race that offers its participants a unique experience crossing the island highest peaks/mountains. Is it for everone? Well, probably not, but i tis indeed for many and it is a unique experience no doubt about it. It will take place on the 27th of April 2019 included in the world tour calendar.
