The Spring Flower Festival in Madeira, is a tribute to the exuberance of flowers that typically bloom in that season and, here, with even greater intensity due to the Island’s subtropical climate.
Every year after Easter, the City of Funchal turns into a floral stage filled with enchantment, colour, perfume and music.
This is also a cultural event. The downtown area of the city is animated with traditional music, folk groups, shows, flower exhibition and the composing of beautiful flower carpets.
This magic event starts on Saturday morning with the Children’s Parade, on which hundreds of children walk to the Municipal Square to build a mural – “The Wall of Hope”, made up of beautiful flowers.
On the Sunday afternoon, the streets of Funchal are filled with music, dance and colour through the sumptuous Parade made up of several floats, hundreds of participants, mostly children, all adorned with the local magnificent flower species.
The following days, there are beautiful flowers and Classic Motor Exhibitions.
Come and experience springtime with us.
