Porto Moniz is a village located on the Northwest coast of Madeira. Visitors can be reinvigorated by immersing in the natural pools of the bathing complex.
The pools create a fantastic sea-water swimming area, just a few feet away from the Atlantic waves that crash against Madeira’s northern shore.
The waves carry salt-laden spray up into the hills, hence the ingenious use of giant heather fences to protect the crops in the fields surrounding the village. Viewed from the steep roads nearby, the “patchwork” of tiny fields creates an attractive pattern.
The natural swimming pool of Porto Moniz is really a must that can not be missed.
