Porto Santo is one of the islands of the Archipelago of Madeira, situated 50 km away from Madeira Island.  It is only 11km long and 6km wide and with a population of about 5000 people.

The connection between the two Islands is either made in two and a half hours by Ferry-boat or in fifteen minutes by plane.

The local climate is stable and dry all year round.

The main attraction is the relaxing 9 km long beach of soft golden sand.  Besides its natural enchantment, the beach is also famous for the therapeutic properties of its sand. Now scientifically proven, these sands are said to ease the pain caused by rheumatism and to accelerate the recovery of broken bones.
